Thursday Theme Song: Blue Moon

Thanks to Hootin Anni for sponsoring

I'll be leading the vocals for today's featured song,
Blue Moon, from atop my blue couch.
Warning to all, my high beams are turned on so BEHAVE this is
a peppy song.
 Blue Moon
you saw me standing alone
without a dream in my heart
without a love on my own
 Blue moon,
you knew just what I was there for
you heard me saying a prayer for
somebody I really could care for,
And then there suddenly appear before me
the only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper, "Please adore me"
and when I looked the moon had turned to
gold

Blue Moon
now I'm no longer alone without a dream in my heart
without a love of my own.

Song triva:
The original song was written by Rodgers and Hart and titled "Prayer" it was intended for Jean Harlow to sing it in Hollywood Party. Neither Miss Harlow or "Prayer" appeared in Hollywood Party. There are several versions of Blue Moon but the 1961 is heard most often...and it is a lively version.
Please click below to hear it.

  1. Love the moon pictures. You captured the "Blue" moon perfectly. I have heard the 1961 version of the song before and I agree it is a peppy one. However, not being born until '62 the version I am most familiar with is from the 70's, from the movie Grease. I only saw it 100 times... I think it was sang by Sha Na Na.
    Great Post!!

  12. Dunno...how the heck that happened, but I lost my own beginning of the comment I was typing to you both. Geez. I need to go back to bed. LOL

Anyway, I was saying....ahem....I'm so jealous of those tall pine trees?!!! Absolutely breathtaking. And your blue moon photos...I bet YOU even feel like howling at the moon, right Madi?

Then, my last thought is ---the Youtube video says 1961?!!! Lord love a duck...that's 51 years ago. I'm ancient!!!
