Pot Luck Friday #10: I've been published......

YES!!!!!
It is true and I nearly fainted and my eyes glazed over when Dad
came home from his Wednesday Train Day. Dad is a Train Brain.
He builds them, he reads about them and he plays with them
but not Lionel trains. His train of choice is O Scale, brass.

After everyone is finished oooooooh and ahhhhhhhhh over the next picture, I'll tell you the rest of the story.
Below you will see a My Whisker in a national O Scale Train Magazine.....September/October 2010

My WHISKER is disguised as a CB antenna.
On Wednesday Dad's train club meets at a friend's house. He has an entire railroad layout in his basement that replicates the Tehachapi Pass in Californa. The guys run their trains on his railroad layout. In return for his generosity, they often help him with different things on his layout. In this particular scene, the person taking a picture is portraying Mr. J and his black Suburban. Mr. J is also has CB in his car. As they were setting up the scene, he said it is too bad I couldn't find a car with an antenna on it. The men ponder this a moment when lo and behold my Dad said Madi leaves whiskers galore all over the house. Would a cat whisker work? Mr. J said it just might be purrfect. So the next week Dad took in several of my stray whiskers AND OMC it fit right on the bumper and is the purrfect scale for the car. Mr. J submitted an article to the O Scale Magazine about his layout along with pictures.
Needless to say, Mom and I are thrilled to know one of my whiskers is a Star...we just hope
it doesn't forget its humble beginnings and the folks who made it what it is today.

Wednesday Words & Scooter Update

I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN.....
NO I CANNOT FIT THIS FULL FIGURED BODY INTO THAT TINY BOX

I AM A FULL FIGURED DIVA AND PROUD OF IT.....

SCOOTER UPDATE: Several men in the cul-de-sac were able to determine the Scooter has been completely stripped of all its electronics. Too bad, so sad this means no joy rides through the neighborhood. It has been reported to the P0lice....anybody want to take bets on how long it will take for it to be towed away?

Is this yours?????

C(at)S(leuth)I(nvestigator) Madi here...I had to come out of semi-retirment to help the peeps on my cul-de-sac solve a mystery.   As you can see by my intent stare, I, Madi, have on my CSI face.  So here is our problem:  When the sun rose on Sunday morning September 12, 2010, we all awoke to find something on our cul-de-sac that no one had seen before.  We all thought oh it must belong to someone visiting.  Since I spend many hours a day napping observing on the bed that looks out over this part of the street, I was asked to keep a watch over it. As the week progressed, it became obvious no one knew anything.   Mom and I decided it was time to solicit help from the blogging world.  This post was prepared on Sunday, September 19, 2010.  The mysterious item IS STILL in the very same spot it was in on September 12, 2010!!!  MOM and I want to know .......................... DOES THIS SCOOTER BELONG TO YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW?
It does not have a license plate on it. Today we are placing an A(ll))P(oints)B(ulletin) to the world.  If you see a stranger wandering around you city looking like he/she lost something, please ask them if they are missing a Scooter.  We would like for it to be moved sooner rather than later.
Thank you,
CSI Madi

YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE WHO MOM MET

Mom went to Quail Ridge Bookstore on Saturday to meet the nice lady who wrote this wonderful
book about her Blind Kitty, Homer, who today is 13 and healthy as a horse.
Click here to visit Homer and Ms. Cooper's Blog.
If you haven't read the book, WE HIGHLY recommend it!!
Homer is ruler of the universe and Ms. Gwen Cooper is a superb writer.....
Mom said Ms. Gwen was excatly like she expected her to be!!!
This book is about Homer. Ms. Gwen adopted him when he was 3 weeks old.
His owners brought him to Ms. Gwen's vet when he was 2 weeks old and very sick. They wanted to put him to be put down. The vet discovered that he had a severe eye infection but other than that he was healthy. The only way to cure him was to remove his eyes. Once he recovered she called Ms. Gwen to tell her all about this beautiful blind, black kitten. Ms. Gwen agreed to come meet him but she knew in her heart he was going to be hers.
When Ms. Gwen decided to write about Homer, she Googled "Blind Cats" just to see what was out there. She found there were two no kill shelters one was in NC. She called the Blind Cat Rescue in St. Paul, North Carolina. She and the owner became very good friends. When she decided to write this book 3 years ago, she told herself if she made any money off the book she was going to make a donation to the Shelter in St. Paul, NC.
On Saturday, before the reading she presented the shelter with at $10,000 cashiers check to
help build a no kill shelter for kitties who have been diagnosed with Feline Leukemia.

After the reading, Mom waited in line for Ms. Gwen's autograph........
OH MY CATS look at this...not only did she address it to US, she sign her name and Homer's!!!
Quail Ridge Bookstore is an independent bookstore. It is owned by a local family and will celebrate it's 26 year in business this year. Thankfully, it is still thriving in this world of mega bookstores. Mom is very thankfully to have such a nice place to go to meet great authors like Ms. Cooper.
