Madi Friday Flashback and Levi Strauss Day

Friday Flashback of Milky-Way (MW) and Return of Madi after a day off......
Judging by the Valentine cards on the hearth this was taken
in February a note on the back of the picture had 1987.
MW was a very 'green' kitty he was already in to recycling.

Today February 26 is Levi Strauss Day...according to that crazy calendar....
I was MIA on yesterday's post because I was out shopping for Levis to model today. I could not find any Levi's with four leg holes so I'm content to just sit on Mom's Levis in honor of the day.

Gosh Mom is having such fun with the Whimsical Calendar....
I do hope she can find one to use in March.
***Mom and I met some new kitty friends this week, Tiny and Lautrec
they are new to the pet blogging world. Drop by to say Howdy!!!***
They are very funny and full of exciting stories and their mom is an artist and loves photography check out her other blog The Door Hunter.

in honor of that Mom would like to share her
Chili recipe with you.
2 lbs lean ground beef

2 15 oz cans of red kidney beans, drained
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
Directions:
Are for a Dutch oven or sauce pot. I brown the meat in a skillet per below then slow cook all
in a crock pot
Brown ground beef, onions and garlic until pan juices evaporate and beef is well browned transfer to a crock pot. Stir in chili powder, salt and pepper, tomatoes, kidney beans and tomato sauce. Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours. Before serving sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar on top.

Mom loves new recipes of any kind...if you have a special one you'd like to share we'd love to have it.
Thanks for indulging us on National Chili Day
Madi and Mom

NOTE FROM MOM: regarding the vicious meow on yesterday's post.
As I've mentioned, Madi is quite vocal. There have been a total of 6 cats (past and present) in our family and extended family. We know a lot about meows. Madi has quite a unique way of meowing. It starts with 'me' (barely a squeak), then she accents the OOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!! That is what you were seeing yesterday the big OW!!!

Word Wednesday

Below are
a few of the
many of pictures

I had to endure....before I unleased the Lioness in me!!!!!!

Note from Mom: Yes this really is the mild manner Madi you've come to know
and 'love' over the last 8 months.
I've been trying to get a picture of her yawning or with her mouth open....Saturday morning
she was really vocal. When she is really vocal, she puts her heart, soul and mouth into it.
Each picture was snapped at a loud meow but none captured the essence of the meow until
the last one!!! It looks like she is about to kick some serious hinny but it was just a
M E O W

Trees and creeks and a funny special day

According to our Whimsical Calendar today is
'Curling is Cool Day'. When I told Madi this she said she would curl her
paws in honor of the day. Then of course I had to explain to her
that Curling is a sport.....that didn't go well.

After we got over the hurdle of Curling, I (mom) decided to share some pictures with you.
There are all kinds of trees in our neighborhood.
I love the bark on the River Birch

The native pine tree standing very tall over this two story house
The Cat Tree

The blue tree
The Crepe Myrtle Tree with cinnamon colored bark
one of our favorite
The bare winter tree with green moss
The Valentine Tree with lots of red Hearts

and finally the trees clinging to the bank of Crabtree Creek (about to crest) in hopes that the mighty current that will not rip them up sending them down the class 1 rapids........

This was taken several weeks ago after several days of hard rain...
The creek is about a 2' from the retaining wall.

Madi confesses to 'taking' Mistaya's Snow....

Mistaya, is a darling puppy from Montana...she loves to run, play, she has a
Sistercat and most of all she loves of M.O.M and M.O.D.
Last week Mistaya was out for her walk one day romping and playing in the snow and the next day it was G O N E
she sent out an urgent plea for help finding it.....
There were many replies and offers to send her some from other places; however, the cost of
postage to mail snow is astronomical.
Lo and Behold (Jack there is behold again), Madi covered her eyes in shame, as she confessed to Mistaya that she found Mistaya's snow in
and around our house and neighborhood...right here in the South.
Madi's story is that she must have been sleepwalking
popped up to Montana to visit Mistaya saw all the beautiful snow
and just could not help herself...she 'took' it.

The next few pictures were taken on Feb. 18....13 days after the snow and
sleet event that evidently was all caused by M A D I....
Now we know why it will not melt...it is M O N T A N A Snow!!!

This patch is beside our next door neighbor's driveway

Below is Mom's shadow...me thinksts she had a hand in the
'taking' of Mistaya's snow? What do you think?

The M O N T A N A snow on our roof (which faces north) just will NOT melt.....

This patch by our front steps. Mom tried to lift
it just to see if it was softening she said it is pretty dang heavy....
Silly human trick....

Mistaya....Madi offers you her sincere apologies for 'taking' your snow.
She wants to return it to you; however, after a lengthy conversation with the Postmaster General, she discovered she cannot afford the postage. Her Dad and I agreed to loan her the $$$$ for postage. In return, she has agreed to work as Madi our M A I D*(see blog post dated 2/18/10 for details) for the foreseeable future.

A win, win situation. Be on the look out for a huge refridgeration truck scheduled to arrive at your front door sometime next week.

Sincerely Madi and Mom

Sunday 'hangover' and a Special Story for Remington

Did we get your attention? MOL and LOL
You thought you were going to see either Madi or Mom in a compromising
photo....Nope...in the feline world when we hang our foot off the edge of something as opposed to
our normal tuck to the chest position it is called a HANGOVER!!!!
The angle is not that good but my paw is hanging over the edge of the bed.
According to our Whimsical Calendar today Fabruary 21 is
Single Tasking Day....thus the
Single Paw Hang Over
This is for our dear friend Remington
Yesterday afternoon Mom and Dad were out and about. One of their
errands was to stop by Pet Superstore for my Nature's Best. They had lunch at a new cafe that is nowhere near Pet Superstore...and they do like to conserve gas and time. Luckily,
Mom spotted a Pet Mania in the shopping center across from the cafe. As she opened the door
to Pet Mania, from out of nowhere, comes this GREAT BIG BLACK DOG. Mom asked it's name...Rem it was a girl Newfie her name is Flo. OMD mom said you are a beautiful Lady Newfie. She petted Flo and rubbed her back and told Flo all about the handsome 1 year old boy Newfie she knew. Flo was extremely friendly. Mom was blocking the aisle (well really it was Flo blocking the aisle). So she told Flo she needed to buy some cat food so she better go find it. Mom said Flo followed her around for a bit until the bell on the door rang again. Flo had to go greet the new customers. Mom ran into Flo again on another aisle. She offered to set up a meet and greet between you and Flo. Flo said I'm 2 I don't date younger men, but thank mom for the offer. About that time, Flo decided she was thirsty.....well all I can say about that is MOM LEARNED YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THE WAY WHEN A NEWFIE IS THIRSTY...OMD water was flying from her jowls when she shook her head.
Then that crazy Flo sat down and rested her head on top of her water bowl!!!
Remington MOM IS VERY sorry she did not have her camera. Will she ever learn to never leave home without it?
Mom was very excited to actually be able to touch a Newfie....with every stroke she pretended it was you.
Love Mom and Madi
